A Day in the Life of Julianna

My mom was telling me that the past few posts had tons of pictures of Jake and not many of Julianna and she needed some pictures of the baby. So on Monday I took tons of pictures of most of her daily activities. Have a look at the picasa site for a day in the life of our sweet Julianna.

Summer Fun

Friday we were on the way to Brian's work picnic at Lake Lanier when I realized I had forgotten my camera. Of course Jake had an awesome day on the lake and I would have loved to have pictures of it. He got to ride on a boat, swim in the lake and Brian took him out on a Sea-doo. The first boat ride he was crying on the way out but after that he was waving to me and laughing. We had such a good time and Julianna was an angel. She took a nice long nap and loved all the attention she got from Brian's co-workers.

After the lake fun we decided to go see Brian's sister and her family. Most importantly Jake's cousin, John Payne. I made the mistake of telling Jake on Wednesday we would be seeing him soon. So for two days all I heard was "go see John Payne, go to John Payne's house, Mommy." The boys had a great time playing together and there were lots of tears when we left. We can't wait for John Payne's sister to arrive in September so Julianna will have a playmate too!

Hope you all have a great week.

Beach Trip

Greetings! We are back from our wonderful beach vacation to Amelia Island. This year we went with our great friends the Browning family. Early Saturday morning we packed up two cars and three kids and off we went. We rented a little house just across the street from the ocean with a cute little room with twin beds for Jake and Matty. The boys loved sharing a room and were very entertaining to listen to over the monitor. They would whisper at each other and the first morning contemplated whether they should "go get the mommies."

The first couple days passed uneventfully and then Tuesday hit. Leslie and I had made a habit out of going down to the beach during naptime and my sweet husband would bring us nice cold drinks. Well, Tuesday he said take all the time you want the AC has gone out. Ugh. He wasn't kidding. We decided to brave the heat versus going to a hotel. The boys took baths in their diapers outside with the hose. It may be redneck but they were cool! Not the best night ever but we got through it...it's almost a funny memory...almost.

By the end of the week Jake was loving the beach. Matty would sit and play in the sand and Jake would run up and down the beach with Brian. It was so fun to watch.

Thanks to the Brownings for going with us! It would not have been the same without you! Jake has been missing Matty since we got back!

Julianna is 4 months old

Saturday Julianna was 4 months old. She is just growing leaps and bounds. I took her to the doctor today and she weighs 14 pounds and is 26 inches long. She is in the 95th percentile for height and 50th for weight. Long and lean...but perfect of course. She has gotten to be so much fun. She loves to smile at you and talk to you. She especially loves her exersaucer. She will sit in it for a long time and just play with all the toys on it. Thankfully I have gotten another sleeper. She sleeps from 7pm to 7am every night and takes really good naps. I am so lucky!

Happy 4th of July

I hope everyone had a great holiday. The Brownings came over for a "deck"warming party. The boys went swimming and played outside for hours. They had lots of fun together playing with the water table and sprinkler. These boys have so much energy! It's so fun to watch. It's a good thing they get along so well we are all going to the beach together soon! We can't wait! I posted pictures of our fun weekend on the Picasa site. The Deck

A couple months ago we decided to add a deck to our backyard. Finally last week it was finished so we bought new furniture. Of course we also had to landscape...yuck! Yesterday Brian worked like a dog in the yard. He spent the entire day out there making our backyard beautiful and I just wanted to let him know how much I appreciate it...especially since I hate yard work and only had to help a little bit. So here is our backyard haven.

Jake even got a new water/sand table! Oh my gosh he has loved it!

I have already spent lots of mornings and evenings sitting on the deck. It's my happy place and I know we are going to enjoy the outdoors so much more for many years to come.

Passing on traditions

As long as I can remember my mom has baked cookies. I like to bake and I am trying to get better at making cookies. So today I decided Jake and I would start baking cookies together. We had a great time. I measured, Jake would pour.

After the ingredients were all mixed he stuck his little fingers in the batter to taste test. I was armed with a spoon though and he was happy licking the spoon. He watched them cook and enjoyed the fruits of our labor after dinner. Hopefully he will like helping for many years to come.
