Beach Trip

Well not sure what to say about our much anticipated beach trip with Nana, Papa, John Payne, Kimsey Grace and Logan (oh and the other adults too).  Where do I even start?  A 5 1/2 hour car ride with three kids, thank goodness for DVD players and McDonald's happy meals.  After finally arriving and unpacking 3 cars full of stuff.  Debby decided to wreak havoc on us.  Luckily there was a small 30 minute break in the rain on Saturday and we went swimming in the pool.  But that was it for any outdoors adventures.

Saturday night we went to sleep hoping for a little sun by Monday.  Weather reports were hoping it would go west (but it seems they really just have no idea).  Sunday morning were were up early after a night of rain pounding the windows.  I remember thinking this isn't so bad, we brought DVD's, cards, toys and games.  Of course about 7:30 am we lost power.  Luckily the rain made it cool outside so we weren't cooking inside.  (On a side note this is not the first time we have lost air conditioning on a beach vacation!)

With no beach, pool or DVD to entertain the kids trouble was bound to find them...or should I say her?  Yes Julianna and her shenanigans.

1. First of all she and Jake were sharing a room.  He kept coming out saying "Julianna won't let me go to sleep."  At one point I went in there and she was lying on top of him yelling "wake up!"  He was dead asleep.  The second night Jake slept with me and Brian slept with Julianna.
2. She decided to get into my make-up and get pretty.  My mascara will have to be replaced but she thought she looked gorgeous!

3. Have you ever heard of butt paste?  After putting her to bed one night I guess she thought she needed some lotion and that would suffice.  I checked on her and she was covered head  to toe.  Sheets were covered (no the house did not have extras and with no power no way to wash them).  Thankfully her beloved lovie was spared.

So Monday rolls around (yes at this point we have not even been there 48 hours!).  And we are hungry!  So on a makeshift burner Papa Chuck makes grits, eggs and toast.  What a delicious breakfast!

But as luck was obviously not with us we got the dreaded call.  Debby wasn't going anywhere, she was just kind of sitting on top of us.  Power could not be restored until at least Friday.  A mandatory evacuation was issued and we had to pack it up.  Mandatory or not, you had me at no power until Friday!

Hopefully we can reschedule since all Jake could say as he cried was "I didn't even get to touch the beach."  So maybe he can "touch it" later in the summer.  I guess if you have to be stuck inside with no power its nice to be with family!  We made the best of it and enjoyed being together!  Someday it will be a funny story, someday.

Kimsey Grace's Baptism

Sunday we drove up to Hartwell to see Kimsey Grace be baptized.  Kimsey Grace looked so pretty in her new dress and there were no tears!

The minister tried to hold her but she held strong to Mommy's neck.  Nevertheless she was baptized and there were smiles all around, especially from her proud parents.  So glad most of her family was on hand to watch!

I can't believe how big all the kids are getting.  John Payne will start Kindergarten in the fall!  How did that happen?  Can't wait to spend some quality time with everyone at the beach!

Grace at 2 Months

Grace is growing and growing!  She was 2 months old on the 30th and we just went to the doctor.  She weighed 13 pounds 4 ounces and is 24 1/4 inches long.  She is still on track with Julianna's height and Jake's weight.  The doctor says she looks great but had to get 3 shots!  She did not enjoy that at all.

I took her picture in this outfit because all of my kids have worn it and it is my favorite.  It was a gift from a dear co-worker...back when I had a paying gig.  It's the sweetest little outfit with bears and french sayings.  It reminds me of how much I love France and I hope someday to take my kids, when they can behave that is (yes, I realize it might take until they are 30).  But Grace has probably worn it for the last time and I am so sad to see it get packed away.
