Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone!

I hope you had a wonderful holiday. The past two weeks have been busy and full of fun for Jake. Brian and I took Jake for his very first visit with Santa. He didn't really know what to make of the big guy but he seemed to warm up to him. He smiled for a picture or two and was done. I guess the visit worked because Santa sure did bring Jake LOTS of presents!

Last week we got to visit Brian's office for a party. Jake had a ball and crawled up and down the hallway. He made a couple friends with some of the other kids. It was great to see everyone and have a meal together for the holidays.

That's brings us to Christmas. Brian and I decided we would be staying home for Christmas this year. While we missed our familes it was nice to start our own traditions. We attended the Christmas Eve service at our church and then it was home and straight to bed so Santa could come.

Christmas morning was wonderful. We opened presents and when Jake went down for a nap Brian and I had a quick breakfast then started opening all Jake's new toys. It took a while to get everything put together but by the time he was up the play room (yes, we recently converted Brian's office into a playroom...he's thrilled) was ready.

That afternoon Jake decided to get sick. Somewhere out there Jake picked up a stomach virus poor little guy. Despite only getting to drink water and juice he hasn't let it affect him playing with his new toys.

Brian's entire family came over on Saturday and Jake had a ball. It was a warm day so corn hole was set up outside. Brian and Anna decided to team up and they were definitely the team to beat. I think Jack and Zackiery finally knocked them off their throne after about 3 hours of play! John Payne and "Jakers" (as John Payne has started to call Jake) played outside and rooted the teams on. It was a great day!

I hope your holiday was a wonderful as our first Christmas together. Have a safe and Happy New Year! More pictures to come in 2009!

John Payne's 2nd Birthday

Well we have had a busy 2 weeks. Last weekend we celebrated John Payne's 2nd birthday in Hartwell. Brian's whole family was there and we got to spend lots of time with everyone. Thomas the Train was the theme of the party and John Payne looked absolutely adorable dressed as the engineer.

Unfortunately we had to miss Davis' 1st birthday party (soooo sorry Davis) but we made it back for Lily's 1st birthday. Where Jake met his friend Ellie. She is a little older than Jake but they warmed up to each other and played in the big ball pool. Yep...probably going to need one of those!

Not much else has been going on. Jake is into everything. He is a lightning fast crawler. Now he is pulling up on things. Which is fun to watch how excited he gets every time he pulls up on the coffe table or couch. Unfortunately its easier for Jake to go up than down. We have had quick a few bonks in the past few weeks as you can see in a few of the pictures.

On Wednesday we go to see Santa. I can't wait to see Jake's little expression. Hopefully he won't be a crier! We'll see. Have a great week everyone and enjoy the holiday season.

Jake's First Thanksgiving

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. I know we did. We started the holiday off with our last swimming lesson of the year. Brian came to see what our little guy has been up to at the pool. He took some video footage and lots of pictures.

After swimming we drove to Cincinnati to see my family. My parents just moved back to Cincinnati so we got to see their new house. Thanks to Jake they will be getting their carpets cleaned after a Starbucks mishap. Oops. I think that was the only damage done by our little mover and shaker.

He is just crawling all over the place. Pulling up on anything he can find. We picked out our Christmas tree on Monday night and I am not sure Jake was very impressed. He just kind of looked at it and crawled off to his toys. Oh well. I know he will be enjoying those presents under the tree. I can't wait for Christmas morning.

Hope you all have a great week!

Trip to Sandersville

Well Jake officially has his first cold. He has a runny nose and a cough but it sure hasn't slowed him down! He is crawling all over the place. Thursday I walked into the nursery to find Jake standing in his crib. I guess pretty soon he will be running all over the house.

We went to the doctor on Friday for his 9 month (can you believe that?) check up. He weighed in a 21 pounds 12 ounces and is 28.5 inches tall. So he gets plenty to eat.

This weekend Brian's good friend from high school, Hill, got married and we traveled to Sandersville for the wedding. Jake got to spend lots of time with Nana, Aunt Anna and Aunt Car-Car. I know he got lots of attention this weekend and we got great pictures with everyone. A special thanks to them because Brian and I had 2 parties and the wedding to attend during the weekend and they were great babysitters.

This week we have our last swimming lesson for a while and Brian is going to come and see his little guy swim. After that we are off to Cincinnati for Thanksgiving and another wedding. So I am sure there will be more pictures next week.

Have and wonderful and safe holiday!

Jake's 1st Football Game

Hello and War Eagle!

We had such a fun week. First of all we were very good citizens and went to vote. They gave Jake a little sticker too. The best part was there wasn't a line! I had all kinds of food and toys packed for a long wait and we walked right in. Friday Jamie brought Payton over and we had a little playdate. So much fun to catch up with her and let the kiddies play.

Saturday we took off for Auburn. We had such a great time. I was a little worried about taking an 8 month old to a football game but I should have known Jake would love it. He did take a power nap the first quarter but after that he was ready to go. He laughed and clapped and had the best time. He definitely put on a show. All the people around us would giggle when he "talked." We had such a good time and I am so glad Jake got to see Auburn.

Jake is definitely animated these days. He loves to babble. He has mastered the crawl and now he is trying to stand up. He is pulling himself up to the coffee table. Pretty soon he will be walking and life as we know it will definitely change. I am sure he will be everywhere.

Happy Halloween!

It was Jake's first Halloween and we had so much fun! Jake was a little lion. He was so cute. On Friday Brian came home early and we each carved a pumpkin. Jake sat in his highchair and supervized. I haven't carved a pumpkin in years so it was a lot of fun to start a new tradition with Jake. After we finished carving Jake got all dressed up in his lion outfit for pictures. Of course I took a ton of pictures. Jake was not into Halloween. He didn't cry but he wasnt laughing either. There are just a few pictures of him grinning but that was pretty much it.

Saturday we went to Hilary and Elliott's to watch football (another sad day for Auburn fans). Jake's little friends all dressed up for pictures. We had Brendan the firefighter, Matty the cuddly lion and Davis the monkey. Again Jake didn't smile...but didn't cry so at least that was something. Regardless the pictures are cute. We had such a fun day. When we finally left we got Jake home and in bed and he slept like a log until 7 am and then it was time to play again! Where do they get this energy?

In the past two weeks Jake has really been working on his crawling and clapping. He usually crawls forward 2 or 3 steps then sits down and claps for himself. Every time I see it I just chuckle. He is so pleased with himself. I love the clapping, his whole face just lights up and he laughs and laughs. It's so fun. I guess he is officially crawling. We picked him up from the church nursery today and the lady said he should probably move up to the crawlers class. She said she looked up and he was on the other side of the room. Oh, the little guy is growing up! He is even trying with all his might to pull himself up (and there is quite a lot to pull). He gets his hands on the couch and tries and tries but hasn't made it yet.

I think this weekend we are going to introduce Jake to Auburn football. It's Homecoming and as long as the weather is nice we will be off to Auburn. Have a great week!

Weekend at the Sewell's

First of all CONGRATS go out to our friends Katie and Andy on the birth of their little girl Lucy James. A little girlfriend for Jake!

Well we have had a fun filled week. Jake continues to go to a Mommy's Day Out program at the church around the corner. I just drop him off and he has a great time. I say "bye bye Jake" from the door and he barely looks at me. He loves playing with the other kids.

We went off to Harwell, GA this weekend to see Anna's new house. Now Jake's cousin John Payne is only 1 hour and 45 minutes away! We had a great time. Saturday we went to a pumpkin farm. The boys had a great time looking at the animals and playing in the hay. Jake took his first hayride and we stopped in a pumpkin patch where John Payne examined many pumpkins before he chose just the right one. On the way back Jake of course spit his passie over the edge (way to go!). Brian being the good daddy went back and made the effort to at least look for it and he found it! Thank goodness it was Jake's favorite! Catastrophe averted! What a fantastic time we all had at the farm!

We were only in Hartwell for a little over 24 hours and Jake hit three, yes three milestones! First, he was on his tummy and found his way to a sitting position all by himself! Then a few minutes later he starting clapping. He has been trying and trying and finally those chubby hands connected! He loves to hear me clap and say "Yea Jake!" And if those two things weren't enough, Sunday morning he woke up with a brand new tooth poking out. That makes 2 teeth and counting! What a weekend!

I hope you all enjoy the pictures. This week I am on a mission to find a costume for Halloween. Have a great week everyone!

7 1/2 Months

I hope you all have had a great couple weeks. Lots has happened in the past two weeks. Jake had a touch of hand, foot and mouth disease. Luckily it was very mild and he just had a few dots on his hands and feet. Unfortunately he shared his sickness with his friend Davis. So sorry Davis! Hope you feel better soon!

Jake has also gotten his first tooth. It poked through about a week ago. This has not stopped the drooling. I think he has an infinite supply of drool. But I feel the other bottom tooth trying to come through too so soon he will have two teeth! Go Jake!

I can tell he is just dying to crawl. He gets up on all fours and rocks back and forth. Poor little guy just can't quite figure it out. But he looks so cute trying to reach for things. He ends up just rolling around until he gets where he wants to go. He has also started standing next to the couch, which he thinks is the funneist thing. Jake just smiles and laughs until he topples over.

Jake is also very into peekaboo. For some reason his favorite game is when Brian covers his head with a towel and Jake tries to break free. He just laughs and laughs under the towel. So cute!

Today we visited the pumpkin patch at our church. I know I was the most excited of the family. I love pumpkins! I can't wait to carve pumpkins on Halloween. I still haven't decided what Jake is going to be this year but I know he will be adorable!

7 Months Old

War Eagle!

I hope you all had a great weekend. We didn't really do much this week. I had my first Mother's Morning Out. Every Tuesday I take him to a church around the corner for 4 hours. After the baptism last weekend I decided to do absolutely nothing for 4 hours. It was great but I was itching to go pick him up. The ladies said he did great. I knew he would.

He is trying to crawl. I can tell he wants to so badly. He just reaches and reaches for toys that are out of his reach. He kind of rolls where he wants to go. Poor guy just hasn't figured it out yet. When he does I know I am in trouble! He will be everywhere and into everything!

Friday night Jake had his first fever. So far we have had a very healthy baby so needless to say Brian and I were a little nervous. I don't know how many times we took his temperature but it was at least every 30 minutes. Of course he was fine the next day. I am pretty sure Jake is getting a tooth. The drool...oh the drool. A faucet that won't turn off!

I decided to weigh the big guy since he is now 7 months old. He weighs 19 pound 12 ounces and is 27 3/4 inches tall. Yes he is quite a load.

A couple weeks ago I had his 6 month pictures taken. If you want to view them, the link is on the "My Favorite Links" page. Go to Clients and the password is jakem. He is the cutest baby ever I am pretty sure! Hope you all have a great week.

Jake's Baptism

Well it was a sad weekend to be a Tiger fan but all was forgotten on Sunday when we had Jake baptized. Both sides of our family made it to the big event. It was wonderful. Jake looked adorable in his new outfit. We had 2 pews full of family members.

I was so worried about Jake crying or spitting up but of course none of that happened. We stood up and handed him to the preacher and that marked the beginning of "The Jake Show." He smiled and cooed and laughed. The preacher turned him to face the congregation and Jake gave them his biggest cutest smile and they all laughed. He was a perfect angel.

It was a great weekend and we are so lucky to have such a big and loving family all on hand to witness the precious moment. What a special day for all of us! So, thanks to all who traveled far and wide to be with us. Brian and I appreicate your love and support more than you know.

Have a wonderful week. WAR EAGLE!

Another Week

It was a pretty boring week for us. We had swimming lessons on Tuesday and Thursday. Jake is getting to be quite the little fish. He hasn't totally mastered closing his mouth when he goes under. But at least he comes up smiling. He and his friend Davis have a great time splashing their mommies.

Brian had a bachelor party in Nashville so he was gone this weekend. Jake and I had a great time hanging out and watching some football. He wasn't allowed to stay up for the whole Auburn game...which was a good thing because it was painful to watch. I guess a win is a win no matter how ugly. Hopefully we will kick it into gear for LSU next weekend.

Speaking of next weekend. We are all excited to see the entire family! That's right everyone is coming to Atlanta for Jake's baptism. We can't wait! It's going to be lots of fun.

Party Central

We have had a fun filled weekend. I am still trying to get over it. Last week Jake had his 6 month pictures taken. He was such a good boy! He smiled and laughed on cue I was very impressed. I can't wait to see the proofs. We had lunch with my college roommate Jamie and her little girl Payton. It was great, we had some food and shopped with the little ones. Lots of fun...especially for Jake who loaded up on some more clothes.

Saturday we went to a baby shower for Katie and Andy. She is due in October and we can't wait to meet their little one. The shower was lots of fun. Jake got to hang out with his buddy Matty and they were definitely a hit with the ladies. Jake is such a flirt. He just laughs and giggles at all the girls.

Sunday we had Brendan's 2nd birthday party. So we spent the evening with lots of kids running around. It's always nice to relax and talk with friends.

The big news is Jake has passed his swimming class. We have had so much fun we signed up for the next one. He just kicks and flaps his arms. It is so much fun to watch him. He even goes under. He loves it.

Hope you all have a great week! War Eagle!

Labor Day 2008

War Eagle!

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend. It has been a fun filled week with Jake. He got to have his first taste of "real" food. PEAS! You can tell from the pictures peas are not going to be his favorite. We moved on to squash this weekend and that seems to be a hit. He is enjoying being a big boy and eating solid foods. He makes all kinds of sounds too while he is eating...so cute.

Friday, Jake and I visited my old company's new office and had lunch with my friend Heather. We took the tour and at the very end...up came some peas on the brand new carpet. Of course. I guess Jake wanted to make his mark at ASD. Oops.

Saturday marked the beginning of football season. Jake dressed up in his Auburn attire as did Brian. Jake and I sent Brian off to Auburn to cheer on the Tigers. War Eagle! Of course I took lots of pictures and even got a shaker out. Jake didn't know what to think of the shaker.

Sunday, we joined a bunch of friends and went out to Stone Mountain Park to enjoy and outdoor concert. Jake's first concert. It was very hot but it didn't seem to bother Jake a bit. He laughed and played on the blanket and had a grand time. We will definitely have to get back there when he is a little older. They have lots of fun things for kids.

Monday we decided to go shopping. A certain little someone has outgrown all of his clothes. He is just growing growing growing. So we loaded up and went to the outlet mall. We walked, shopped, Jake ate some squash and took a long nap. We found all kinds of good deals so hopefully Jake should be set for a little while. I can't believe I am buying 12 month outfits for my 6 month old! Crazy. Oh well.

I hope you all have a great week! Go Tigers!

6 Months

My little baby is 6 months old! I can't believe it! He is just so much fun these days. His personality is really starting to show. He is the happiest baby. Just laughs all the time and has yet to meet a stanger.

Friday we went to see the doctor for a check up and shots. Poor little guy was not happy with me. But he is definitely a healthy baby. Weighing in at 18 pounds 7.6 ounces and 26.75 inches. Yikes! Now I know why my back hurts...I have been carrying an 18 pounder around all day.

The doctor told us to start feeding Jake "real" food. So Brian and I went to Target and loaded up on the baby food. I was checking prices and turned around and found Brian grabbing two of everything. I think we are more excited about the solids than Jake. Saturday afternoon we started with the rice cereal and every 3-4 days he will get a new food. There are some pictures of Brian feeding him. He kept crying in between bites because Brian couldn't shovel it in fast enough to suit Jake. But he got full and seems to be taking to the spoon well. Can't wait for the next food on Tuesday! Green beans...yummy!

We also had Jake's picture taken on Saturday. He was a little fussy that morning so we were worried it would be a waste of time but we ended up with lots of cute shots. I uploaded them so you can see the shots, they are in a separate album so you guys have double the pictures to see this week.

This week we are back in the water for swimming and have lots of lunch dates planned. It's going to be a busy week! But the real highlight is that Auburn football season opens this weekend! Our flag is flying and we are looking forward to a winning season! Jake's first football season. Have a great week and WAR EAGLE!!!

Finally New Pictures

Hello again!

We have finally gotten our new computer. I have been taking lots of pictures over the past few weeks. I am trying to make up for 3 weeks of no pictures.

Jake is growing like a weed. He goes to the doctor for his 6 month check up tomorrow. Half a year already! He is huge. I can't wait to see what he weighs. He is definitely a chunky monkey!

Jake has learned lots of new tricks. He is sitting up like a champ. He rarely falls over but I of course still surround him with pillows just in case. He holds his own bottle. Which let me tell you is fabulous! I just hand it to him and I am done! His new thing is to pump his arm up and down when he is excited. The more excited he gets the faster that arms goes up and down. It's adorable.

We started swimming lessons on Tuesday with his friend Davis. Jake was a little shy at first. The passie was in for the first 5 minutes and then we came out of our shell and had a good time. We went back today and now I think we have a little fish on our hands! I am already dreaming of him winning gold in the Olympics. He was kicking and splashing and having a wonderful time. He even went under and came up smiling and laughing. It's a great time. There are some cute pictures of Jake and Davis.

I will update more after we go to the doctor. Poor little guy has to get more shots. Hope you all have a great weekend!

Technical Difficulties

Well I am sorry to say that I won't be able to post pictures this week. That means next week there will be lots! On Tuesday night our house was struck by lightning. We lost a lot of stuff but most importantly our computer. So until we get that replaced no new pictures.

We had a fun week and of course had lots of pictures to show you guys. We had lunch with Hilary and Davis. Afterwards, Davis came home to play with us. I took tons of pictures of them it was so cute. They were both so good I was relieved. I haven't taken care of more than one little baby before. But they were angels and we can't wait for our next playdate!

This weekend we traveled to Sandersville for a family reunion. We got to show Jake off. He was a perfect little happy baby the whole weekend! It was great. He even slept in a little both days. Of course Brian and I were both up waiting for him to wake up so we could play. He is definitely a morning baby. Just wakes up smiling and giggling. We had a great time with all our family.

That's it from the McNeely's. Hopefully we will get our new computer soon and I can upload some pictures. Hope you all have a great week!

5 Months

We had a fun week. On Monday we traveled to Lake Rabun for a work picnic for Brian's office. It was lots of fun to watch everyone go tubing and all the kids had lots of fun.

We took a few pictures at the lake but most of the pictures this week are of Jake trying to sit up. He is starting to get the hang of it. It's so much fun to see him learning his new trick. Of course he still prefers eating his feet to sitting up. Changing a diaper has really become a chore. Once he gets hold of those feet he really doesn't want to give them up. So we play tug of war with the feet. He just laughs and laughs. What a wonderful sound!

We also got to see Jake's friend Matt Browning (who is growing like a weed!). Katie and Andy, who are awaiting their first baby in October, were in town. So we got to catch up with them and see the Brownings. As always it was great to see them.

Not much in store for us this week. This weekend we are off to Sandersville for a family reunion. Lots of people are going to get to meet Jake.

Have a great week everyone!

5 Months...Almost

I hope you all had a great week. Jake is almost 5 months old. Jake has found his toes! They sure are delicious! All week he has been pulling on those feet to get his little toes in his mouth. When they get there he squeals with delight. It is the cutest thing. I took lots of pictures of this because it is just a funny sight.

What Jake really wants to do is sit up. He is doing little stomach crunches to get there. But he just can't get up. He can sit up for about 30 seconds then falls over. He will get it soon I know.

We had a few lunch dates this week. On Saturday Brian took him on his first trip to Home Depot. Jake needs to know his way around that place! Not much else is going on.

Tomorrow we are off to the lake for a picnic with Brian's coworkers. I am sure we will have great fun and I will of course take lots of pictures! Jake's first lake trip.

Hope you all have a great week.

Another Week

Well we had a big weekend. Friday we decided to have a little play date. So Ben and Leslie brought Matt and Hilary and Elliott brought Davis over to play. It was great fun. The Mommies of course had to take tons of pictures. So there are quite a few of the boys together. I am sure the will be lots more in the years so come.

Saturday Brian's family came for a visit and to go to see the Kenny Chesney concert. This was the 8th time Brian and I have seen him. We have gone every year since we met. It's tradition and Kenny Chesney certainly didn't disappoint. This year he played at Turner Field with 4 opening acts. Our favorite was Gary Allen. Of course he played first and we sat in a downpour to see him. We were soaked for the rest of the concert but it was worth it and lots of fun. Better than 100 degree heat if you ask me.

I hope you all have a great week. More from Jake next week!

4th of July

I hope everyone had a safe and happy 4th of July!

We had a good week. On Wednesday we ventured out to our local sports bar (Jocks n Jills) to watch my brother pitch against the Reds. While the outcome wasn't the greatest we had a great time with Jake. He was all dressed up in his All Star outfit. He was mesmerized by all the TV's but couldn't keep his eyes off his daddy's beer.

We stuck around the house most of the weekend. Some friends of ours just built a pool so we went over there for a while on Saturday. Jake and Brian went swimming. Jake didn't like it at first but he warmed up to the water. I got a lot of cute pictures.

So that's all I have for now. Have a great week everyone!

4 Months Old

Well Jake had his 4 month check up this week. I can't believe he is 4 months old. He had to get some shots poor little guy. He didn't even flinch for the first two but the last two...wow! He has some lungs. The doctor says he is looking good. He weighs 15 pounds 7.6 ounces and is 25.5 inches long. Obviously he is a healthy eater as you can see in some of the pictures. He is a fat little boy but the cutest fat boy ever!!!

Jake has found his feet. He loves to get his hands on those little feet. It's especially fun to change his diaper while he is grabbing them. He is trying with all his might to get those feet in his mouth but his tummy is an obstacle. Not sure he is going to be able to get around the tummy.

Aside from finding out we have feet we didn't do much this week. I guess we recovered from our beach trip. Lots of laundry for Mommy. I also was a slacker at taking pictures but we did a few photo shoots.

Hope you all have a happy 4th of July! Be safe!

Jake's First Beach Trip

Well we are back from St. George's Island. We had a wonderful time introducing Jake to the beach. He put his little toes in the sand and feet in the water. Yeah he cried. Jake did not like the beach. I am sure he will like it more next time.

We basically relaxed and enjoyed the family time. I spent a lot of my time reading books on the back porch. Jake would nap in his swing and I read and watched everyone down at the beach. Brian brought his Bocce balls and he and Anna teamed up. They were a force to be reckoned with. Finally on Friday Carla and Chuck beat them.

It was a great time. We had lots of fun eating out, staying in and drinking fruity drinks. We actually didn't take lots of pictures but we did get some good ones. Enjoy!

And if you want to check out the 3 month pictures I had taken of Jake click over on the My Favorite Links, go to the photographer's page. Click on Client and the password is caroline. I think they are adorable!

Have a great week everyone!

15 Weeks

It was a slow week for us. We really didn't do much. It has been too hot to play outside so we have been putting all these toys to good use. We opened yet another box with a new toy for Jake. It's a jumper. He can turn all around and play with different things while jumping up and down. He hasn't figured out the jumping yet. I am sure he will soon enough.

But Jake did sort of roll over this week. If starting on your tummy and kind of falling onto your back counts. He has no desire to be on his tummy so he doesn't even try to roll off his back. It really is funny to see him topple over. I took some pictures while he was doing it and they are a little fuzzy but you get the idea.

Tomorrow we are having lunch with Jake's friends (Matt, Davis and Brendan). It should be lots of fun. After that we are going to concentrate on getting ready for our beach trip. We leave Sunday morning for St. George's Island. We are so excited to introduce Jake to the ocean. I wonder how he is going to like the sand! I know there will be lots of pictures and fun stories so come back in 2 weeks.

Hope you all have a great week, and for all you dads out there...Happy Father's Day!

14 Weeks

Well Jake is 14 weeks old. Time is just flying by. This week we had lots to do and I wasn't very good about taking pictures. So we did a quick photo shoot this morning with all of his fun toys. Of course that wore him out so he is snoozing now.

He has really gotten into his exersaucer. He has figured out how to turn all around. Its so cute, he hasn't really figured out all the toys on it yet but he stares them down. He has started reaching for things and grabbing his little toy keys. Its so fun to play with him. He just laughes and giggles.

We started the week off by having lunch with Jamie and her little girl Payton. Then we had lunch with Hilary and Davis. Finally we met my friend Heather for lunch. It was a busy week. Jake is so great when we have lunch dates. I am going to take advantage while it lasts.

This weekend we were back in Sandersville. We had a couple showers for one of Brian's good friends Hill and his fiance Katy. They live in DC so it was great to see them and have them meet Jake. So Jake got to have quite a bit of Nana time. She was nice enough to watch him Saturday night and Sunday too. Unfortunately I wasn't around to take pictures so we only got a few from the weekend. But we are all going to the beach in 2 weeks so I can only imagine how many pictures there will be.

Last night I went to see the new Sex and the City movie. (My first movie since Jake was born). It was wonderful! Oh the clothes, the shoes and the handbags! It was great. If you haven't seen it...what are you waiting for?!?

Hope you all have a great week!

Memorial Day 2008

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend. We had a fun and exciting weekend at home. We have been traveling the past two weekends so we were glad to have a little down time at home.

Jake had his 3 month birthday on the 23rd. I thought I should measure and weigh him just for kicks. This is just an estimate but I say he is about 15 pounds and 24 1/2 inches. We will go back to the doctor at 4 months but I thought we should see where we were at 3 months. Needless to say he is a healthy boy!

We started the weekend off with dinner at our favorite restaurant Taqueria del Sol. Jake is great to take to restaurants which is nice. Saturday we spent lounging around the house and getting some chores done.

On Sunday we decided to join the church (Smyrna First United Methodist) we have been visiting for 2 years now. I know...its about time. So we are going to look into getting Jake baptized sometime this summer.

Sunday afternoon we ventured over to Layce and Adam's house. It was a beautiful day and so nice to sit out on their patio and relax. UNTIL...Jake decided to poop. Oh and not just in his diaper but all over my lap too. It was just too much for the poor little diaper to contain. Needless to say we made a quick exit, went home and showered and as John said "pooped and rallied". It was a fun day other than the pooping incident.

Monday we shopped and had a late lunch. Then we took Jake to our pool. I think we have a little fish on our hands. He had a great time swimming in the pool with Mommy and Daddy. When we got home Brian and I played Bocce Ball in the backyard. This was new to me so of course I lost every game. But it was fun being outside and enjoying the sunshine.

This weekend we are off to Sandersville for some wedding showers. Have a great week!

12 Whole Weeks

Well, 12 weeks have gone by since Jake was born. I can't believe how time flies. This weekend we traveled to Sanderville to see Brian's family. As always we had some great home-cooked food. Jake got to see all our relatives there. He is so spoiled from all the attention. He was pretty good most of the weekend which was nice. We go back in a couple weeks for some wedding showers for our friends.

Tomorrow we go to take his 3 month pictures. Of course last weekend he scratched his little nose and it still hasn't healed all the way yet. Doesn't that just figure! Oh well, I am hoping she can just airbrush that out. So in the next two weeks I will let you know when you can view those pictures. Hopefully they will be better than last time. He is all smiles these days so I am pretty sure we are going to get some good shots.

All this traveling I am ready for a nice relaxing weekend at home! Hopefully we will have some nice weather and we can introduce Jake to the pool this weekend! Oh boy! Hope you all have a great week and a nice Memorial Day weekend!

Mother's Day

First of all I hope all you mothers out there had a wonderful Mother's Day. Jake and I traveled to Cincinnati on Wednesday (Brian flew up on Friday). I was very nervous about the 6 hour drive all by myself with Jake but he did great! I only stopped once to feed and change him, he slept the entire way. I was so glad.

We arrived in Cincy in time to pick up Aunt Lyndsay at the airport. She was meeting Jake for the first time and was so excited she cried big tears when she saw him, claiming he was soooo beautiful. Well of course I already knew that! We had a great evening with him and dressed him up in Bengals attire in honor of my brother.

The next few days we spent shopping and eating at all our favorite spots. I definitely plan all my meals when I go to Cincinnati. Friday, Jake and I went to visit my very best friend Lisa and her family. Our friend Angie brought her little girl, Tatum, over too. Tatum was born just 4 days before Jake. It was fun to see them and get to visit with their kids.

Unfortunately on May 3rd my grandfather passed away. Saturday we had his funeral. Afterwards the whole family and some close friends gathered for dinner celebrating his life with good food and drinks! He was a wonderful granddad and I will miss him.

Sunday was my very first Mother's Day. My family's church had 5 pieces of music commissioned in honor of my grandma, who died in December 2006. It was so wonderful. The anthem "When I Am Old" was my favorite. The composer incorporated so much of my grandma into the song, in particular her love of purple and how she always said she was "fantastic!" It was truly a wonderful service and I know my grandma was looking down and enjoying not only the amazing music but also seeing her whole family there to honor her.

All things considered we had a great time in Cincinnati. It was so much fun for everyone to meet Jake. He sure was spoiled! Especially by Grandma and Aunt Lyndsay! I hope you all enjoy the pictures, and have a great week! We are off to Sandersville this weekend to see Brian's family so I am sure there will be tons of pictures next week too.

10 Weeks

Well Jake is now 10 weeks old. He is a growing boy and we are loving every minute. Jake is getting so good at sleeping through the night. We put him down between 8:30 and 9:00 and he pretty much sleeps until 6:30 or 7:00. So Mommy is finally getting some sleep. Its wonderful.

We had a few lunch dates this week. I usually try to take some pictures after we get back since he is usually in a cute outfit. He is also getting better at his jumper that hangs from the doorway. He hasn't really gotten the jumping yet but he can turn all around. Brian also put together a new toy. Jake sits in and can turn around and see all the fun things to do. He didn't really know what to do but he likes the sounds it makes. There are pictures of course.

I have to say the funniest thing happened on Sunday. Brian and I had a ton of yard work to do. We have to lay out pinestraw every year and this was the weekend. I thought Jake could sit outside in his stroller with us and that worked for a little while. But he was getting fussy and hot so I took him inside. A baseball game happened to be on so I plopped him in front of the TV and he was mesmerized! He sure did watch that baseball game for an hour while we finished in the yard. The last few pictures in the album are of him staring at the game. It was so cute.

So on Wednesday Jake and I are off to Cincinnati. Brian is joining us on Friday. It's going to be my very first Mother's Day and we get to spend it with my whole family. I can't wait to see everyone and for them to meet Jake.

9 Weeks and My First Softball Game

First I want to apologize for the past week the baby website pictures have been down. I know all of you need a little Jake fix once in a while. The old pictures should be available to see on Wednesday or Thursday. Luckily I could upload new pictures for you to see.

This week Jake got to meet all his new friends at his very first softball game. I play in a softball league on Thursday nights and we finally had a game early and warm enough for the kids to all come out. So Brian watched him and sat with the other mommies while I played. There are some cute pictures up of all his friends. We can't wait for them to be old enough to run around together!

Jake's cousin John Payne brought Aunt Anna, Uncle Joe and Aunt Carla to see us this weekend. Anna and I went shopping and left the kids with Brian, Joe and Carla. It was fun to have an afternoon of shopping, of course, I did most of my shopping for Jake and Brian. It was fun anyway. Saturday night we went to a nice steakhouse to finally celebrate Brian's 30th birthday. Carla was nice enough to babysit. We had a great time.

That is pretty much it for the week. I hope you all have a nice week.

2 Months Old!

Can you believe it? Jake is 2 months old! Time really flies. He is just the sweetest baby and so much fun! This week we got out a new toy. The jumper thingy (I am sure it has a better name but I don't know it). As you can tell from the pictures he wasn't so sure about it at first but he has gotten the idea. His little legs hang out the bottom and he has figured out how to jump a little. He likes sitting up though and being able to look all around.

This weekend we broke in the jogging stroller. Brian took him out for a run and Jake loved it. Well, he slept the whole time but that works for me! I even took him for a walk this morning and he is quite a heavy load and makes for an even more challenging work out. Especially in our very hilly neighborhood.

We had a relaxing weekend and took a few pictures and by Sunday afternoon I was a little bored so we had a huge photo shoot. I took tons of pictures and Jake made so many cute faces I had to put a bunch of them up for you to see. He has all different kinds of looks, it is so much fun to see them all.

Today we had our 2 month check up. They gave him 4 shots! Poor guy is still konked out. The doctor said he looks great and is obviously eating well. Jake is up to 13 pounds 2.8 ounces and is 23 and 3/4 inches tall. My little boy is growing, growing, growing!

We are anxiously waiting for Jake's cousin John Payne to come visit us this weekend. He is bringing his parents and Aunt Carla too! Should be a fun weekend.

Also a reminder that if you want to buy pictures from our photographer they will be on her website until Thursday. After that you won't be able to buy them online anymore. Her website is on the "favorite links" page and the password is jake.

Masters' Week and Grandma & Poppy Come to Visit

I hope you all had a nice week. We sure did. Brian went off to Augusta on Monday for the Masters' practice round. He, of course, couldn't resist the incredibly cute baby clothes...so Jake now has a Master's onesie which he wore yesterday for the final day of the Masters. He and Brian watched golf all day long. Of course, we had to have a photo shoot. He looked so cute in his polo shirt and khaki pants.

Grandma and Papa V. drove in Thursday night after a long two day drive from Phoenix. Now they are only going to be 7 hours away instead of way out in Phoenix. Yeah! So we had a great day with them on Friday. We ran errands, shopped and had a great time. Jake even got to help Grandma bake cookies for Uncle Johnny's birthday.

A couple weeks ago I took Jake for his first professional pictures. They came back and you can view the proofs online. You can also order them if you would like. You can order in color or black and white at checkout. These proofs only stay up for 10 days so if you want any pictures make sure you order them before next Tuesday (April 22). The website is: www.lauraleighphotography.com/proofs. You have to create an account. Once you do that, log in and click on "access galleries" the password is jake. That should bring up the pictures. Let me know if you have any questions.

That does it for this weeks Jake update. Check back next week for more pictures. Have a great week!

First Weekend Apart

Well, we all survived our first weekend apart. Brian and I traveled to Savannah for John and Elizabeth's wedding. Brian was a groomsman which meant we were invited to the rehearsal dinner so that meant 2 whole nights without our Jake!

I dropped Jake off in Sanderville with Nana and from the pictures I would say he had a grand time. He and his cousin, John Payne, got to spend the weekend together. I am sure as soon as Jake gets mobile they will be off and running into trouble at every turn!

The wedding was beautiful and we had a great time but we were really ready to see our little man again! Carla (Aunt Car-Car) took lots of pictures and I have uploaded a new album from Jake's weekend of fun. He is getting bigger and bigger every minute. When we picked him up on Sunday I swear he grew!

This week Grandma and Papa V are driving through as they make the move from Phoenix to Cincinnati. We are looking forward to their visit.

Week 5 and getting BIGGER

Hey everyone!

Another week has gone by and Jake has just been growing like a weed! We got to have lunch with Hilary and Davis and Leslie on Thursday. It was great fun and Jake met his new playmate Davis. Jake's other new playmate finally arrived. Our good friends Ben and Leslie had their baby, Matthew Lee, on Sunday. We are so excited for them and for Jake to have a new little guy to play with.

It was a rainy weekend but we managed to take a few pictures outside on Saturday morning. I think we got a few good shots. I uploaded them to the site so check them out.

I also added some pictures from the baby showers that were gived for us. Jamie and Mandy hosted a shower in November and Lisa hosted the shower in Cincinnati in December. The couples shower was hosted by Little Ben and Leslie, Hilary and Elliott, Big Ben and Leslie, John and Elizabeth, Jarrod and Will in January.

Jake had his first professional pictures taken this morning. He did pretty well. I even had to jump in a few shots. The pictures should be up on a website for viewing in a couple weeks. I will let you know that website and you can see the pictures, and I believe you can order pictures too. Hopefully they will turn out well. He was into frowning this morning so we will see what we get...at least he wasn't crying.

This weekend Brian and I are off to Savannah for John and Elizabeth's wedding. I am dropping Jake off to stay with Nana...I sure hope I can leave! We will see how our first weekend apart goes.

Have a great week!

One Month Update

Hello Everyone!

I hope you all had a nice Easter. Brian, Jake and I had a nice relaxing weekend. Jake got all dressed up in his new Easter outfit and we went to church. He was so good during the service we even got to eat lunch out. It was a beautiful day. The sun was shining but it was a little windy and chilly. So the outside pictures we tried to take didn't work out so well. So we had to move indoors. Jake has been randomly smiling lately and I was lucky enough to catch a few grins with the camera. He is just so much fun. You can check out the new pictures in the Easter album.

Today we went to the doctor for Jake's one month check up. I was so excited to see how much he has grown and I was in for quite a shock. I was thinking he would be in the 9 pound range. Boy, was I wrong. Mommy's little piggy weighed in at 10 pounds 11.6 ounces! He gained 3 pounds in month! He also grew 2.25 inches! He does love to eat so I guess I shouldn't be surprised. The doctor was pleased with his progress so far and said he looked great.

That's all for now. Have a great week and check back for updates soon!

Jake's First Month

Hello everyone!
We have had quite an eventful first month. Lots of visitors, phone calls, cards, gifts, thoughts and prayers. We appreciate all of your love and support over the past 10 months. It has meant the world to us. I wanted to update you all on what Jake has been doing the past month.

First of all on February 23, 2008 we welcomed John Kimsey McNeely to the world. He is named after both of our fathers and we are calling him "Jake." His birth was relatively easy. After being 8 days overdue the doctor (bless him) finally said it was time to induce. So Saturday morning Brian and I got up before the crack of dawn and drove to Piedmont Hospital. They checked me in gave me some drugs and at about 1:00 pm I was starting to feel contractions. By 1:30 I had my epidural. Around 6:00 I was ready to push and at 6:39 Jake was here. Out in the waiting room Grandma, Nana, Chuck, Aunt Anna, Uncle Joe and Aunt Carla were anxiously awaiting the news. It was wonderful to have so many family members there to share in the excitement.

Monday morning they released us and off we went to raise our son. My mom (Grandma) was there for the first week to help me. The first night was great but Tuesday night...yikes. Jake was a little confused between night and day. Fortunately Grandma was there to help and we straightened that out in a few days. By Friday we were doing much better! Only Grandma had to go back to Phoenix. BUT Aunt Carla came to stay for the weekend.

On Sunday Brian's mom (Nana) came and brought all kinds of people to see Jake. Jake got to meet Granny and Papa Veal, Aunt Donna and Zackiery. Nana cooked lots of great meals for us and was a huge help to me. On Thursday Aunt Anna brought Granny McNeely and Jake's cousin John Payne. I am sure when Jake gets a little older these boys are going to be quite a handful for us!

So, Thursday Nana had to go back to Sanderville. Saturday rolled around and my dad (Papa V) was due for a visit. He and Jake watched lots of golf and basketball on TV. It was great to see him. After Papa V left things kind of died down and we settled into life.

The past two weeks have been just the 3 of us. While Brian goes to work Jake and I do lots of fun things. We have been to the doctor, to the mall, out to lunch and he doesn't mind running errands with me. He loves to ride in the car and listen to Baby Einstein music.

My main goal for the past 2 weeks was to get our baby announcement picture taken. So, for a whole week Jake had a photo shoot everyday. We had to take LOTS of pictures to get a good one. And wouldn't you know when it came down to choosing a picture it was between the first and last picture. They were mailed just this week so you should all be getting yours soon. I think it is totally cute...but I am biased.

Tomorrow is Easter and I have bought Jake a new Easter outfit. Hopefully we can make it through church without getting anything on it so we can take lots of pictures afterward.

We are going for Jake's one month (I can't believe it) checkup on Monday. I am sure I will have more to report after that. We have to get a S-H-O-T. I hope I make it through okay. Brian has been commenting on how big Jake's cheeks are getting. Jake has gotten so big, I am very anxious to see how long he is and how much he weighs. It seems all he wants to do is eat.

I hope you enjoy our website and check back often for updates. I love to take pictures of our little guy so I am sure there will be lots of pictures to check out. Again thank you all for everything you have done for us. We appreciate it more that you know.
