Mother's Day

First of all I hope all you mothers out there had a wonderful Mother's Day. Jake and I traveled to Cincinnati on Wednesday (Brian flew up on Friday). I was very nervous about the 6 hour drive all by myself with Jake but he did great! I only stopped once to feed and change him, he slept the entire way. I was so glad.

We arrived in Cincy in time to pick up Aunt Lyndsay at the airport. She was meeting Jake for the first time and was so excited she cried big tears when she saw him, claiming he was soooo beautiful. Well of course I already knew that! We had a great evening with him and dressed him up in Bengals attire in honor of my brother.

The next few days we spent shopping and eating at all our favorite spots. I definitely plan all my meals when I go to Cincinnati. Friday, Jake and I went to visit my very best friend Lisa and her family. Our friend Angie brought her little girl, Tatum, over too. Tatum was born just 4 days before Jake. It was fun to see them and get to visit with their kids.

Unfortunately on May 3rd my grandfather passed away. Saturday we had his funeral. Afterwards the whole family and some close friends gathered for dinner celebrating his life with good food and drinks! He was a wonderful granddad and I will miss him.

Sunday was my very first Mother's Day. My family's church had 5 pieces of music commissioned in honor of my grandma, who died in December 2006. It was so wonderful. The anthem "When I Am Old" was my favorite. The composer incorporated so much of my grandma into the song, in particular her love of purple and how she always said she was "fantastic!" It was truly a wonderful service and I know my grandma was looking down and enjoying not only the amazing music but also seeing her whole family there to honor her.

All things considered we had a great time in Cincinnati. It was so much fun for everyone to meet Jake. He sure was spoiled! Especially by Grandma and Aunt Lyndsay! I hope you all enjoy the pictures, and have a great week! We are off to Sandersville this weekend to see Brian's family so I am sure there will be tons of pictures next week too.
